Laboratory Management

Optimization of Laboratory Organization through Leadership

At the initiative of the DGKL Board, the Laboratory Management Section was founded on October 10, 2011. The section’s main goal is the continuous scientific development of extra-analytical services in laboratory medicine. This includes the optimization of processes in the laboratory. This encompasses, for example, managing the demand for laboratory medical services for the best possible benefit to patients (such as through diagnostic pathways and guidelines), as well as addressing issues related to professional qualifications and continuous education of those working in medical laboratories, modern laboratory organization, and imparting soft skills to future leaders in medical laboratories. Successful working groups already existed within the DGKL for many of these topics.

Since working groups are time-limited according to the statutes, the formation of the Laboratory Management Section as an umbrella ensures continuity and better networking of the activities of individual working groups. The members of the Laboratory Management Section primarily come from the Laboratory Management WG, Public Relations WG, Diagnostic Pathways WG, Multimedia Teaching WG, POCT WG, and In-/Outsourcing WG.

The section’s work takes place through regular meetings of the sections as well as the working groups. If we have sparked your interest in active participation, we would be very pleased. Please contact the office so that we can add you to our mailing list.
