Outstanding Work
For outstanding work in the field of Clinical Chemistry and Pathobiochemistry, the German Society for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine has established the Gábor-Szász Prize in memory of Gábor Szász. The prize is usually awarded every three years at the annual meeting of the German Society for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine by the President of the Society or his representative. The prize is advertised nationally.
The prize is endowed with €15,000
The final submission deadline is June 25, 2025.

Award
The prize is usually awarded every 3 years at the annual meeting of the German Society for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine e.V. The award is presented by the President of the German Society for Clinical Chemistry or their representative. Each prize winner is obliged to subsequently report on the most important results of their work.
Award winner
The prize is awarded to individuals who have published one or more outstanding papers in the field of Clinical Chemistry and/or Pathobiochemistry, which must not be older than two years at the time of application. Multiple prize winners can be awarded.
Invitation to tender
The prize is advertised nationally. Every member of the German Society for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine has the right to nominate a prize winner. The proposal must be submitted with a detailed justification.
Panel of judges
Panel of judges
The decision on the award is made by a jury panel with the following composition:
- Two members of the DGKL presidium, one of whom chairs
- Three DGKL members appointed by the DGKL presidium
The jury uses at least two independent reviewers.
The award decision is final and not subject to legal appeal.
Dates
The prize will be awarded at the DKLM 2025 on October 22, 2025 in Leipzig.
