Outstanding work
The German Society for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine awards the Gábor Szász Prize in memory of Gábor Szász for outstanding work in the field of clinical chemistry and pathobiochemistry. The prize is usually awarded every three years at the annual meeting of the German Society for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine by the President of the Society or his representative. The prize is awarded nationally.

The prize of €15,000 is sponsored by Roche Diagnostics Deutschland GmbH.
Award
The prize is usually awarded every three years at the annual meeting of the German Society for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine. The award is presented by the President of the German Society for Clinical Chemistry or the representative. Each award winner is obliged to subsequently report on the most important results of their work.
Award winner
The prize is awarded to persons who have published one or more outstanding papers in the field of clinical chemistry and/or pathobiochemistry, which must not be older than two years at the time of application. Several prize winners can be awarded.
Invitation to tender
The prize is awarded nationally. Every member of the German Society for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine has the right to nominate a winner. The proposal must be submitted with a detailed justification.
Panel of judges
Panel of judges
The decision on the award will be made by a panel of judges with the following composition:
- Two members of the Presidium of the DGKL, one of whom chairs the committee
- Three members of the DGKL appointed by the Presidium of the DGKL
The judges will make use of at least two independent experts.
Prizes will be awarded without recourse to legal action.
Dates
The prize will be awarded at the DKLM 2025 on October 22, 2025 in Leipzig.
