Outstanding scientific work in the field of biochemical and molecular analytics can be recognized with the international ‘Biochemical Analytics’ award.

The award is one of the most prestigious honors given by a medical professional society in Germany and has been awarded for more than 50 years for methodological advances in the field of biochemical and molecular analytics. It includes significant new scientific findings obtained in the field of biological sciences, particularly clinical chemistry and clinical biochemistry, using modern analytical methods.

The call for applications is announced in international and national professional journals. The submission deadline for 2026 will be announced later.
The award is endowed by SARSTEDT AG Co. KG and is worth €50,000.

Award Ceremony

The award is typically presented every 2 years by the President of the DGKL at the opening of the conference. Each award recipient is obligated to subsequently report on the most important results of their work and to explain their work to the professional press.

Prize Winners

Prize Winners can be any researcher who presents outstanding scientific work in the field of biochemical and molecular analytics. The work must be published or accepted for publication. Multiple works that have appeared over an extended period and comprehensively cover a specific area of work may also be recognized. The award can be shared.

Call for Entries

The award is announced in at least five international and national professional journals. The submission deadline is announced with the call for applications.

Candidates for the award can apply themselves or be nominated by members of the DGKL Presidium and the jury. The following documents must be submitted:

  • A scientific curriculum vitae
  • A summary of the overall scientific work and
  • The individual works on which the proposal is based.

Jury Panel

Three members of the DGKL Presidium, three scientists appointed by the DGKL Presidium, the secretary of the ‘Biochemical Analytics’ award, who is appointed by the DGKL Presidium, and possibly a representative of the award sponsor.

The jury makes a preliminary selection from the submitted works. The selected works are presented to at least two reviewers determined by the jury. The selection of the award winners is made by the jury in writing and by secret ballot. The majority of the votes cast decides. In case of a tie, the vote must be repeated. In case of another tie, the President or the deputy decides.

The award decision is final and not subject to legal appeal.
