Digitalization is playing an increasingly important role in laboratories. The DGKL supports this development and recognizes outstanding scientific achievements in the field of digitalization and AI applications in laboratory medicine with the Digital Laboratory Award. The award was first presented in 2024.
The final application deadline for the 2025 award is June 25, 2025.

The Limbach Group emerged from the merger of independent laboratories throughout Germany and, as the largest owner-operated laboratory group, represents the entire spectrum of laboratory diagnostics. The MVZ Dr. Limbach and Colleagues was founded in 1979 by Dr. med. Hans Jakob Limbach in Heidelberg. To date, many more laboratories have joined throughout Germany.

Award
The award is presented annually by the Executive Board of the DGKL on the occasion of the annual conference of the German Society for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine e.V. and can be shared.
Invitation to tender
A published or accepted for publication scientific paper including a summary, which must not be older than two years at the time of application, must be submitted. Multiple papers published over a longer period and comprehensively covering a specific field of work may also be awarded. The content focus is on process/interface optimization in the laboratory, such as detection of pre-analytical errors, analysis of measurement results, report generation, sender consultation, etc. using digitalized processes and/or innovative AI models. The papers are to be submitted to the Executive Board of the German Society for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine e.V. together with a brief description of the professional career and, if applicable, a list of publications.

The award will be presented at DKLM 2025 on October 22, 2025 in Leipzig.
The final deadline for submissions is June 25, 2025. Submissions can be sent digitally to preise@dgkl.de.
